It's the Year of the Dragon!
Lunar New Year is celebrated by many Asian cultures, welcoming the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. You can join the celebration at one of the many events taking place across King County, including here in East King County.
Learn about the Lunar New Year and how it’s traditionally celebrated at Peter Kirk Community Center (352 Kirkland Ave) on Saturday, February 3 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Hosted by the City of Kirkland, stop by to enjoy crafts, food, dancing, and cultural demonstrations.
Gather with family and friends with wishes for good fortune and good health at the Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 3 from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM at Bellevue Square. Presented by The Bellevue Collection, Seattle Chinese Culture and Arts Association, The Overseas Community Affairs Council, and Republic of China, activities will include arts and crafts, music and dance performances, giveaways, and more.
Plan to join us to talk planning
King County’s comprehensive plan guides land use policy in unincorporated King County and regional services throughout the county, including everything from where homes can be built to support for economic development to how we provide access to transit and trails.
The King County Council is now taking up a once-in-a-decade update to the comprehensive plan and we need your input. In the coming weeks, we will hold numerous public and community meetings so we can hear your feedback on the proposed changes. Two will be held next week:
-
Wednesday, February 7 at 9:30 AM: Local Services and Land Use Committee will hold a briefing at its regular committee meeting
-
Thursday, February 8 at 6:30 PM.: Council will host a community meeting in Covington at Covington City Hall. Doors open at 6 PM. and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM
As your councilmember on the King County Council, I need to know what’s important to you. Please consider taking a short survey to share your priorities for 2024 and your ideas about how we can work together to make King County a safe, welcoming place for all.
Spread the word!
Please forward this email widely and invite others to sign-up to my email updates to receive important and timely information for District 6 constituents.
Sincerely,
Claudia Balducci King County Council District 6
