Dear Friends and Neighbors,
King County has officially kicked off its once-a-decade overhaul of its Comprehensive Plan. The 2024 King County Comprehensive Plan Update is an opportunity to make substantive policy changes that address our community's long-term needs and advance the County's policy goals. While this is known as the "2024 Update" the process for developing the plan takes place over two years.
The Comprehensive Plan guides King County land use policy and it affects everything from where homes can be built, to how roads impact surrounding areas, to access to clean water, and much more. More details about the scope of the 2024 update can be found here.
Earlier this week, the Council kicked off a series of meetings to gather community input. More meetings are being scheduled for the coming months, including a meeting in Covington. I hope you will take this opportunity to participate in the process, and will share more information about the meeting in Covington when it comes available.
