It’s Official: Sworn in to King County Council Today!
CM Mosqueda taking the oath of office delivered by her husband Manuel Valdes.
Allow me to reintroduce myself for the first time as your new King County Councilmember for District 8! Today I was sworn in at our first Council meeting by my husband and joined by my parents to watch as I became the first Latina to serve on the Council.
Whether you voted for me or not, I'm here to serve you and help our district be the best it can be. I look forward to hearing from you and learning how we can work together to improve our community’s health and well-being.
Thank you so much, too, to everyone from labor, community, Team Teresa staff current and former, my colleagues on King County Council, and my colleagues from Seattle City Council who came out to the swearing in as well as friends and family who tuned in online! Special thanks to Councilmember Joe McDermott for all your support and over 20 years of service to District 8 and our region. I hope to build on your legacy as we work to address the compounding challenges facing our constituents.

New Year, New Office, New Committee Assignments
I’m excited to hit the ground running in my new capacity, especially in several committees! I am thrilled to chair the Health & Human Services and Regional Transit Committees; vice-chair the Transportation, Economy & Environment Committee; and serve as a member of the Budget & Fiscal Management, Local Services & Land Use, and Employment & Administration Committees as well as the Board of Health. I am particularly pleased to be working on committees that cover county-exclusive subject areas – exactly what drew me to this position!
