Interested in playing a key role in capital portfolio planning, monitoring, and decision-making activities? As a Conceptual Cost Estimator in King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) Portfolio Planning and Analysis (PPA) Unit, you’d have a key role. Your expertise in estimating construction costs for a large array of capital projects will contribute to the successful planning and governance of WTD’s capital portfolio. You will collaborate closely with a variety of internal subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop conceptual construction estimates for new capital construction project requests. Most importantly, this position will allow WTD to better prioritize projects and inform future funding needs.
About the Role:
This position will primarily perform Class-5, planning-level construction estimates for asset rehabilitation and replacement projects totaling less than $2.5M. The successful candidate must be able to develop conceptual estimates using industry cost information, WTD’s historical project cost database (PRISM) and their own experience. They will be required to work with subject matter experts in a variety of planning, design, and construction disciplines to ensure estimates are thoughtful and anticipate all construction elements and tasks needed to achieve the project objective.
Long-term, this position may provide technical, coaching and development to other staff as well as assist with small, agile estimating of minor asset management projects ranging from $50,000-$2,500,000.
This position performs work remotely and onsite.
