King County, Washington sent this bulletin at 11/24/2023 12:45 AM PSTKing County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) provides equitable opportunities for people to be healthy, happy, and connected to community.
DCHS manages a wide range of programs and services to assist the county's most vulnerable residents. The department maintains a pro-equity focus aimed at developing the systems and standards necessary to achieve better outcomes for all county residents.
The Children, Youth and Young Adult Division (CYYAD) is one of five divisions in DCHS. CYYAD believes that King County should be a place where all young people have equitable opportunities to be happy, healthy, safe, and thriving members of their communities. The division operates several re-engagement, education, and employment programs for youth and young adults, and is home to the Best Starts for Kids 5 to 24 investments, and Puget Sound Taxpayer Accountability Act’s K-12, community and post-secondary investments.
Best Starts for Kids (BSK) is a King County voter-approved initiative to support every baby born or child raised in King County to reach adulthood happy, healthy, safe, and thriving. The Best Starts Implementation Plan, approved by the King County Council in November 2021, serves as the guiding framework for the 2022-2027 Best Starts levy investments.
CYYAD and the Best Starts initiative are seeking a Childcare Strategy Lead to supervise and support the Best Starts Childcare team and serve as strategic advisor on policies and programs concerning access to and provision of childcare services in King County. The Best Starts Childcare Team manages more than $200 million in childcare investments over six years, including a regional childcare subsidy to help families afford the cost of care, and a wage boost pilot project to grow childcare worker wages and demonstrate the impact of increased wages on retention and continuity of care.
