Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council  

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends, enjoy delicious food, and practice gratitude for all of our blessings. This year, I am particularly grateful for the support and partnership of my wife and all the time I get to spend with my growing kids.

As a reminder, King County will be closed today, Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. On Thanksgiving Day, Metro Transit buses are operating on a Sunday schedule. Click here for Metro Transit holiday bus schedules.

Alan M. Painter Grants

King County’s Alan M. Painter Grant Program funds community projects that allow unincorporated area residents to participate in, and be more connected to, their communities and King County. Funded projects must demonstrate how they are accessible to all residents regardless of race, income, or language spoken. Please note: These funds may not be used for political activities.

Applications are due Friday, December 15, at 5 PM. Find more information at the Department of Local Services website.

Storefront Repair Grants

Small businesses in unincorporated King County can apply for funding to repair damage caused by vandalism or break-ins that they’ve experienced since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. The Storefront Repair Program serves small businesses (10 employees or less) by providing a one-time grant up to $5,000 to repair and restore storefronts of commercial buildings occupied by operating businesses. Retail, grocery, food service, and personal, professional, or medical services are eligible to apply.
