Airport launches Vision 2045
King County International Airport - Boeing Field is beginning a two-year project to develop the Vision 2045 Master Plan and Noise Study.
Vision 2045 will fulfill the requirements of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Master Plan with extensive public engagement and emphasis on King County values.
The Airport Master Plan serves as a guide for the airport for the next 20 years to determine if and how an airport can accommodate projected demand. It provides a roadmap of projects to maintain the airport in accordance with FAA standards and safety requirements. The Noise Study, also called a Part 150 Study, is a voluntary FAA program that helps analyze and document the noise exposure associated with airport operations. Potential noise mitigation efforts also will be studied.
KCIA has contracted RS&H to help lead Vision 2045 and the Noise Study.
One of the first tasks for this project is to develop a Community Participation Plan. This plan will be guided by the Community Engagement Report completed during the first quarter of 2024. If you would like to be included in the development of the community participation plan or any other part of this project, please contact KCIACommunityOutreach@kingcounty.gov. Look for updates in Plane Talk as the project progresses.

Event to celebrate community’s help on Air Monitoring Project
The airport invites the community to celebrate the installation of two Purple Air Monitors, which are both live and reporting on the web. Attendees can also learn how to access the data for these monitors and other air monitors in the Puget Sound Region. Light refreshments will be provided.
Please join us:
December 14, 3:30 p.m. Airport’s Main Terminal, Room 110 7277 Perimeter Road South, Seattle, WA 98108
The event will recognize the assistance of a community working group that helped choose the best type of air monitor for the airport. The group also helped determine what locations would provide the greatest benefit for the surrounding communities.

On Saturday, November 11, two Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II combat aircraft flew out of King County International Airport. They headed to the University of Washington where they did a flyover during the Huskies football game in recognition of Veterans Day. The F-35s came from Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona.
The next day, two Boeing EA-18G Growlers zoomed out of KCIA and did a flyover during the Seahawks game at Lumen Field, also in tribute to veterans. The Growlers are based at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and refueled at Modern Aviation after the flyover.

Fence installation begins this month
Installation of a new fence will begin this month in the northwest quadrant of the airport near the former Rosso Gardens nursery. Most of the construction will occur from the airport side of the fence; however, occasional work will need to occur near the sidewalk along Ellis Avenue. Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through January.
At the conclusion of the project, the airport will host a celebration with the community members to dedicate the artwork and thank the community for their involvement with the project. For more information about the event, please email us at KCIACommunityOutreach@kingcounty.gov.
Skyservice construction continues; Perimeter Road to close
Skyservice Business Aviation, one of the airport's Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), is continuing the construction of a 71,000-square-foot FBO and hangar complex. As a reminder, while the facility is under construction, Perimeter Road is closed to northbound traffic between the south entrance and the Modern FBO. Please continue to use Portland Street for access to Perimeter Road.
In the coming months, this section of Perimeter Road will be closed in both directions to complete some of the utility tie-ins and exterior building finishes. Additional communications will be sent before the full road closure.
