We completed the East Lake Sammamish Trail, our latest contribution to the 44-mile Locks to Lake Corridor that connects Seattle’s waterfront in Ballard to Eastside cities and the Cascade foothills with an uninterrupted paved path.

A new regional gun violence office |
|
I announced last month the creation of a Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The new office will connect King County with federal resources from the White House, be a hub for the region and expand our local work.

Sewer heat for renewable energy |
|
King County is one of the first places in the nation to use energy from the sewer to heat buildings, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We’re partnering with Alexandria Real Estate Equities on the project to save energy using sewer heat recovery technology.

Free youth transit rolls into another year |
|
In the past year since we launched the Free Youth Transit Pass, kids and teens have taken more than 7 million free trips on Metro buses. Transit is free for riders 18 and under by using a Youth ORCA card, showing a student ID or just boarding transit.
