We have several grant opportunities that are available now and wanted to share them with you. Investing in our local non-profit organizations and supporting innovative ideas through funding is critical to help ensure that each of our communities are able to thrive, now and into the future! The deadline for these grants is in October or November, so make sure you apply soon. Grant and Funding Sources
The following grant opportunities are listed in order of application due date, with the soonest deadline listed first. Any applications that have rolling deadlines are located towards the bottom of the list.
1. Public Free Access Grant
Applications are due Friday, September 29th by 5 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Public Free Access program aims to reduce the barrier that admission fees pose to many residents— particularly underserved communities—and visitors in accessing quality, relevant, cultural experiences. Funds may be used to provide free or reduced cost admission to your cultural programs, events, venues, or activities—existing, new, or restarting in 2023. There is a total of $50,000 to be allocated and organizations may request $1,000 or $2,000 in funding.

2. Restoring Fish Passage Through Barrier Removal Grants
Applications are due Monday, October 16th by 9 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: Nearly $175 million in funding is available for fish passage projects under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. This funding will support projects that reopen migratory pathways and restore access to healthy habitat for fish around the country. In collaboration with NOAA, selected partners will use these funds to implement locally-led removals of dams and other in-stream barriers.

3. Youth and Family Homelessness Prevention Initiative (LGBTQIA+ Expansion)
Applications are due Friday, October 27th by 2 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: Research shows that housing is the first rung on the ladder to economic opportunity and that a person’s access to opportunity is intrinsically linked with that of the community where they live. The awardee(s) shall dedicate one case manager solely devoted to the work of preventing homelessness, ensuring housing stability for households at imminent risk, and implementing the YFHPI model of prevention and housing stability. Successful applicants must clearly demonstrate the ability to serve LGBTQIA+ communities.

4. Community Wildfire Defense Grants
Applications are due Tuesday, October 31st by 9 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Forest Service is now accepting applications for the second round of funding under the Community Wildfire Defense Grant program. This program is intended to help at-risk local communities and Tribes; plan for and reduce the risk of wildfire. The maximum amount of Federal funding awarded to any one community or Tribe via this competitive process is: $250,000 for the creation or updating of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan OR $10 million for a project described within a Community Wildfire Protection Plan less than 10 years old.

5. Eastside Community Aid Grant
Applications are due Tuesday, October 31st. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Eastside Community Aid grant opportunity is open to support groups on the Eastside that align with the mission to address housing, hunger, and mental health programs. To be eligible organizations cannot receive more than $5 million in donations annually from other sources.

6. COVID Impacts Recovery Grant
Applications are due Wednesday, November 1st by 5 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: COVID Impacts Recovery grants offer small, one-time grants to Washington businesses in the arts, heritage, and science sectors to provide funding for recovery from pandemic economic impacts. For-profit and non-profit businesses are eligible. Examples of eligible businesses include but are not limited to: Performing Arts Company; Live Entertainment Venue; Environment, Conservation or Wildlife Organization; Museum or Historical Organization; Arts, Heritage, or Science Educational Institution; Art Gallery; Graphic design; Photography; Independent Artist, Writer, or Performer. Grant funding is limited to $5,000 per application.

7. Building for Equity: Project Development Grant
Applications are due Thursday, November 2nd by 5 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Building for Equity: Capacity Building Grants invest in an organization’s development, allowing them to secure their long-term facility needs. These grants of up to $25,000 may fund a wide-range of activities that increase an organization’s capability to advocate and plan for, fundraise for, lease, acquire, repair, remodel, and/or construct space suitable for their programming in a sustainable, long-term manner.

8. Working Connections Child Care
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply now at this link.
Details: Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) helps eligible families pay for childcare. When a family qualifies for subsidy benefits and chooses a provider, the state pays a portion of the cost of childcare. Parents may be responsible for a copayment to their provider each month. Families experiencing homelessness may be approved for up to 12 months to help resolve issues surrounding homelessness.

9. US Affordable Connectivity Program

Details: The Affordable Connectivity Program is a US Government program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet.

10. Emergency and Unforeseen Funds

Details: 4Culture's Emergency and Unforeseen grants meet a wide variety of unexpected facility needs for cultural organizations, and their funds are available for actual costs incurred to repair or renovate cultural spaces.

11. Open 4Culture Funds

Details: Through this grant -- which has no deadline -- 4Culture awards amounts up to $1,500 to cultural doers serving underserved populations across the county. Artists and arts groups operating outside of Seattle and those working in Heritage and Preservation anywhere in King County may apply.

12. Horizons Foundation of Washington Grants

Details: Horizons is a private family foundation whose primary purpose is to address social and environmental concerns in Washington State. They award grants to non-profits in three areas: the environment, social services, and arts and culture. Grants are awarded from as low as $1,000 and up, and grants to applicants in the Arts and Direct Emergency Services categories are typically capped at $5,000.

13. King County Child Care Financial Assistance Program

Details: King County has allocated $7 million of its federal ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding to support King County families with the cost of their child care. Eligible families may receive financial assistance to pay for their child care at eligible providers.
