Regional Animal Services of King County launches "Collar ID" pet licensing campaign

We all know how valuable caller ID is on our phones to help identify who is calling and make sure we can stay in touch with those we care about most. The same holds true for having "Collar ID" on our pets - and one of the best ways of providing that identification is through a pet license tag worn on your pet’s collar.

A pet license from Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) not only provides identification to help protect pets should they get lost, but it also helps fund the animal care and control program and supports the protection of people and pets in your community. Last year, the King County Pet Adoption Center took in 3,763 lost pets. 895 of those pets were successfully returned to their owners, thanks in large part to identification like their pet license tags or microchip record in the RASKC pet license system.

"Imagine how many more pets we could reunite with their owners if they wear a pet license tag?" said Gene Mueller, DVM, manager of Regional Animal Services. "By having 'Collar ID' through a pet license, you can substantially increase the chances of being reunited with your cat or dog if they get lost."

Not only is having your pet licensed the right thing to do to protect your pets, and support the lost pet shelter in King County, it's the law. RASKC covers 24 contracting cities, plus unincorporated King County, in its pet licensing efforts.

Get your pet's Collar ID today at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet or stop by any of the dozens of pet license partner locations throughout King County. A list of locations is available at bit.ly/RASKCLicenseLocations.
