Back to school already???
It’s hard to believe it’s already time to go back to school, but September is already here and the school year is starting for students across the Eastside. While going back to school can be exciting and stressful for any student, some families need more support to ensure their kids are ready to learn. Luckily, Eastside schools and community partners work hard to make sure those supports are available!
If you or someone you know in the Bellevue School District needs access to resources like clothing assistance, rent assistance, or school supports, the Bellevue Family Hubs at Stevenson Elementary and at Highland Middle School will be open starting September 5. These resource centers, a partnership between Bellevue LifeSpring and Bellevue School District, are open to all Bellevue School District students and families. You can schedule an appointment by emailing help@bellevuelifespring.rog or walk-ins are welcome. For more information and to view their hours, visit:
Learn about and celebrate Labor Day
On Monday, September 4 our nation celebrates Labor Day – a time to recognize the value all workers have and commit ourselves to honoring that value by holding employers in all industries, including government, to high standards, fair wages, and good working conditions.
Watch and learn about the origin of the only federal holiday dedicated to honoring and recognizing America's workers:

And a reminder, most King County government offices will observe Labor Day and Metro Transit services will be operating on a Sunday schedule. The Vashon Water Taxi will not be in service. Visit Metro Trip Planner to learn more:
Learn about the Bellevue Transportation Benefit District
Earlier this summer the City of Bellevue adopted an ordinance to form a Transportation Benefit District (TBD), an independent taxing district that can be formed by cities and counties in Washington. This represented a first step in a process to consider new funding to maintain streets, sidewalks and for additional mobility improvements to make it easier to get around. Now Bellevue leaders want to learn more about your transportation priorities.
Here are ways to learn more and to provide your feedback:
-
Attend a webinar to learn more about the Bellevue TBD. On Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm city staff will host a webinar that will include a presentation about the TBD, followed by Q&A. Log-in via Zoom at: https://cityofbellevue.zoom.us/j/83537787663; Passcode: 362616 (pre-registration is not required)
- Take the TBD survey and share your transportation priorities:
