Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council  

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This week at the Council, I was honored to award Black Diamond resident Bill Kombol with the Martin Luther King Medal of Distinguished Service.

Bill has dedicated countless hours to preserving the history of southeast King County, volunteering with the Black Diamond and Enumclaw Plateau Historical Societies for many years, in addition to various King County commissions and committees. Without him, many stories from the Enumclaw and Black Diamond communities would have been forgotten and lost forever.

I am grateful to Bill for using his passion for historic preservation to serve our community. To learn more about Bill and his contributions, check out this KCTV video.

Dunn delivers $25,000 for IRONMAN in Maple Valley

I am pleased to announce that that King County will be providing $25,000 in funding for traffic control at the IRONMAN 70.3 Washington triathlon, which is taking place this fall in Maple Valley. 

In addition to being a fun event for people of all ages, IRONMAN provides a much-appreciated economic boost to local businesses in our region. I am glad to see IRONMAN return to Maple Valley and am proud to once again support it!

Make your voice heard! King County's 2024 Comprehensive Plan update

King County is starting a once-a-decade update to its Comprehensive Plan, a key policy document that guides how growth and development will occur over the next 20 years. It guides County decisions and services such as:

• where homes, offices, or stores can be built;
• how roads, buildings and trees contribute to the look and feel of neighborhoods;
• investments in transit, sewers, and parks;
• protection of working farms and forests; and
• access to clean water, clean air, and a healthy environment.

The 2024 Comprehensive Plan update will focus on policies related to racial equity, affordable housing, and climate change. A draft of this update is available at the Comp Plan Update webpage. 

The public has until July 15, 2023 to submit their feedback draft update. I encourage you to make your voice heard by:
