New Best Starts for Kids Funding Opportunity - Capital Program

Dear Neighbor,

I regularly hear from community organizations about their desire to establish community centers or other capital projects so I’m excited to announce that the Best Starts for Kids Capital Program request for proposals (RFP) is now open!

This funding opportunity closes on Friday, May 26 at 2PM, please submit your application by then.

Click here to view the full funding opportunity details and apply.

Overview

The Best Starts Capital Program will provide grants for building repairs, renovations and new construction or expansion to improve access to high quality programs and services for low-income children, young people, and families, with a priority for those serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. In addition, rural areas and or low-income areas with lack of access will be prioritized.

This RFP will fund Priority 2 projects, as outlined in the Best Starts for Kids Implementation Plan, including renovations and repairs to existing multi-use Community Centers, Early Learning Centers, Child Care or Recreational Facilities to address critical health and safety issues. The capital grant funds awarded under Priority 2 are expected not to exceed $500,000 for any single facility over the life of the levy.

Apply to join the Access Paratransit Advisory Committee by April 30th!

Metro is actively recruiting new members – including a South King County District 5 representative – to serve on the Access Paratransit Advisory Committee (APAC). Our riders have a vital role in informing the mobility services Metro provides. This is especially important for riders with mobility challenges who are unable to easily access or use regular buses, which is where the Access Paratransit Advisory Committee plays an integral role.

Committee membership is comprised of Access riders, family members of Access riders, representatives of organizations that provide services to Access riders and representatives of organizations that support Access riders who have limited English proficiency.

Each member is appointed to serve a two-year term and the application deadline is April 30.

Those who are interested can apply to the APAC at King County’s website here.

More information can be found on the Metro Matters blog.
