Each year, we observe Black History Month to acknowledge the experiences and celebrate the accomplishments of Black Americans. This week, I was proud to lead the King County Council in proclaiming February as Black History Month in King County.
There are lots of great community events in the coming weeks to celebrate Black History Month, including "Living Voices: The Right to Dream" at Bellevue City Hall next Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. This unique event combines a live actor with historical film and photos to bring the stories and people of the Civil Rights Movement to life.
Relief for working families
This year, the Working Families Tax Credit will provide payments up to $1200 to low-to-moderate income individuals and families. The amounts are based on income level and the number of qualifying children, if any.
