Winter Weather Update as of Thursday Afternoon

The next 24 hours will likely be an interesting mix of weather: snow, ice, wind and ultimately rain. Snow is returning to the region by Thursday night and is forecast to turn to freezing rain at some point on Friday morning. With freezing rain comes an elevated risk of power outages, so I recommend reading this helpful article on how to prepare for that possibility. 

Temperatures will continue to rise on Friday and we are expecting all rain by Friday evening. However, as long as below-freezing temperatures continue, icy roads will be a concern. If you must drive, please exercise caution. Meanwhile, King County crews are working 12-hour shifts around the clock to keep Category 1 and 2 unincorporated roads clear for safe travel.
