Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This week, the King County Council met for the final time in 2022 and voted on committee assignments and leadership roles for next year. I am excited to share that my colleagues unanimously selected me to serve another term as Vice Chair of the Council. It is an honor to have the confidence of my peers as I continue in this leadership position!
As Vice Chair, a central focus of mine will be fiscal responsibility. In anticipation that our economic challenges are not over yet, I will strive to make sure King County is being a good steward of public funds and exercising financial discipline—especially before turning to the pocketbooks of taxpayers and ratepayers who are already feeling strained.
In addition, I was elected to serve as Chair of King County’s Flood Control District, a special purpose district that provides funding and policy oversight for flood protection projects in King County. As we’ve seen in recent years, flooding has the potential to cause devastating damage to so many homes, businesses, and other infrastructure—making the District’s work critical to the health of our community and economy. I am eager to shepherd and bolster this work in the year ahead.
This holiday season, as I reflect on all the things I am thankful for, I want to thank you, my constituents, for the privilege of serving you on the King County Council. It is truly the honor of a lifetime. I look forward to another productive year of working with my Council colleagues to deliver solutions that work for the people of District 9.
Warm regards,
Reagan Dunn King County Councilmember District 9
