 On the on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the fighting of World War I ceased when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect. Since then, November 11 has been set aside as a day to honor America's veterans.
Tomorrow, my office, as well as most King County offices, will be closed to observe Veterans Day and I hope you will join me in taking that time to reflect on the gratitude and respect we owe to the veterans in our community. I want to send my heartfelt appreciation to each veteran and their family for their service and sacrifices.
