Councilmember Reagan Dunn visits the site of 2020 flooding
This week, the Flood Control District passed its 2023 budget. I am proud to have worked for investments that address flood risks on Issaquah Creek and May Creek.
This budget delivered critical funding to identify and prioritize capital projects along Issaquah Creek as a result of a study I requested after severe flooding in 2020 highlighted the need for increased flood protection in this area. In addition, I sponsored an amendment to develop a workplan for improving drainage in the upper May Valley.
I’m glad to support continued investments in protecting our people, businesses, and infrastructure from the destruction caused by flooding.
After many weeks of deliberation, the King County Council is scheduled to vote on King County’s 2023-2024 biennial budget at next week’s Council meeting on Tuesday, November 15 at 1 PM. You can watch these proceedings at KCTV.
This review and approval of the two-year County budget is one of the most important functions of the King County Council. Our final vote on the budget follows an approximately two-month process of reviewing and amending Executive Constantine’s proposed budget. The resulting final budget outlines how King County will spend $15.8 billion in taxpayer dollars over the next two years. To learn more about what is in Executive Constantine’s proposed budget, visit our budget webpage.
