As of Friday morning, King County Elections reports that nearly 415,000 ballots have been returned, which is about 28% turnout – a little behind the 2018 mid-term election at this stage. Luckily, there’s still time to vote before this Tuesday, Nov. 8!
It’s a big mid-term election with a total of 90 offices and 140 candidates up for election, including Washington’s US Senator, members of the US House of Representatives, State Legislators, and Secretary of State. There are also 13 measures to consider, including two countywide measures and 11 local measures.

Need a ride? If you live where Lime Scooters are currently available, King County Elections is partnering with Lime to provide free scooter rides to and from drop boxes and Vote Centers now through Election Day. The offer of two free rides of up to thirty minutes - one for each way to and from a drop box or Vote Center - is available on any Lime e-scooter using the code LIMETOTHEPOLLS2022.
Whether you send in your ballot through the mail, or drop it in one of the County’s 76 drop boxes (before 8pm on Nov. 8), or visit one of six vote centers (also before 8pm on Nov. 8), don't forget to vote.
Finally, once you’ve voted, be sure to track your ballot to make sure it’s been received and counted!
The King County Council is nearing the end of our biennial budget process and I am continuing to advocate for priorities important to District 6. The budget is the biggest policy document we take up and our best opportunity to invest in our values, such as human services, transportation services, critical infrastructure and programs that give people opportunities to thrive.
The Council welcomes your input and we will have two committee meetings next week with public comment. You can join in-person at the Courthouse or virtually Tuesday, November 8 or Thursday, November 10 at 9:30am. Information on how to join virtually is here. You can also submit public comment by email at budget.council@kingcounty.gov. Help us cross the finish line with a budget that makes our region stronger and safer.
Calling all water quality connoisseurs
Interested in water quality and environmental protection? We are currently looking for someone to represent District 6 on the WaterWorks Grant Ranking Committee, which recommends how to allocate over $2 million in grants every other year. The WaterWorks competitive grant program funds water quality improvements programs like green stormwater infrastructure (rain gardens and cisterns), education and community engagement, research and monitoring, stormwater retrofits, source control, pollution prevention, and stream and riverbank restoration throughout King County.
If you have experience or interest in water quality issues, experience or interest in grants or contracts, the ability to evaluate proposals using criteria, and the ability to work with a committee to reach consensus decisions, please send a letter of interest and resume to Madeline Cavazos, at madeline.cavazos@kingcounty.gov by 5:00pm Wednesday, November 30.
Spread the word!
Please forward this email widely and invite others to sign-up to my email updates to receive important and timely information for District 6 constituents.
Sincerely,
Claudia Balducci King County Council District 6
