Supporting our Food Banks
Councilmember Dunn at the Covington Storehouse with Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner and community members.
As many of us know, rising inflation, labor shortages, and increasing interest rates are having an extreme impact on families across King County. Our food banks have especially hard hit as they are coping with increased food prices and greater community need. Earlier this year I proposed a motion that would task King County with identifying resources to help local food banks amid these impacts. I’m happy to announce that on Tuesday this legislation was passed unanimously out of the King County Council’s Law, Justice, Health and Human Services Committee, moving us one step closer to getting support out to food banks.
As we move forward on this effort, I will continue to work with District 9 food banks to support them as much as possible and let you know what is happening with this legislation. In the meantime, visit my website for more information.
Thank you to all the food banks in District 9 and throughout the area who do so much to feed and support families in need!
