 Grant Opportunities Available in August and September!

We have several grant opportunities that are available now and wanted to share them with you. Investing in our local non-profit organizations and supporting innovative ideas through funding is critical to help ensure that each of our communities are able to thrive, now and into the future! The deadline for these grants is in August or September, so make sure you apply soon.
Grant and Funding Sources
The following grant opportunities are listed in order of application due date, with the soonest deadline listed first.
1. Collections Care Grant
Applications are due Wednesday, August 10th at 5PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The preservation of our past is vital to our present and our future. 4Culture's Collections Care grant helps King County’s archivists, librarians, and historians protect the tangible objects that make up history. Funds are provided to assess, organize, catalog, clean, repair, document, digitize, and, ultimately, preserve heritage resources in King County.

2. City of Redmond Special Event and Tourism Grant
Applications are due Tuesday, August 16th at 5PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The goal of Redmond's Tourism Promotion Program is to attract overnight visitors to Redmond. Grant applicants may be cultural, historical, educational, sports, or community organizations coordinating events, tournaments, or promotions that bring visitors to Redmond. Grants may not exceed 50% of the cost of the project.

3. Youth Healing Project
Applications are due Monday, August 22nd at 2PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: Best Starts for Kids is looking to directly fund young people to work on projects that aim to improve the mental health, connection, and well-being of youth. They are looking for creative ideas that center young people and address the negative impacts of COVID-19. Projects should empower young people as leaders. There is approximately $110,000 to be allocated with a project maximum of $9,999.

4. Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) Service Provider Staffing Grant
Applications are due Monday, August 29th at 5PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) and the Adult Services Division (ASD) is pleased to share this opportunity for nonprofit human services partners who currently receive funding through the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL). This RFA will fund one-time hiring and retention bonuses of $2,000 per employee. There is a total of $1,537,614 to be allocated.

5. Together Center: Entryway and Donor Recognition Wall RFQ

Details: Together Center is a nonprofit human services center supporting the East King County community since 1991. They are looking for emerging and established artists to create a site-specific welcoming entry and donor recognition wall in their lobby. There is a total of $27,000 to be allocated.

6. Community-Based Parenting Supports - Caregiver Peer Supports and Basic Needs Resource Brokers

Details: Best Starts for Kids is seeking proposals from organizations to partner on three areas of work to support families with children from birth to age 5. The programs are Parent Caregiver Information and Supports, Basic Needs Resource Brokers, and Kaleidoscope Play and Learn. There is approximately $5.23 million to be allocated.

7. Outdoor Learning Grants
Applications are due Thursday, September 1st. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Washington State Legislature funded the Outdoor Learning Grants program with the goal to develop and support outdoor educational experiences for students in Washington public schools. Outdoor education providers may apply for experiential, outdoor education program activities. There is $1.85 million to be allocated with a grant limit of $250,000.

8. Working Washington Grants: Round 5
Applications will open soon and are due Friday, September 9th. Apply now at this link.
Details: The Washington State Legislature has allocated a new round of grant funding for small businesses affected by the pandemic. Funds will be set aside for the arts, heritage, science, hospitality, fitness, and personal services. $70 million was appropriated for this round of funding.

9. Building for Equity: Project Development and Capacity Building
Applications are due Friday, September 9th at 5PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: This 4Culture grant allows organizations to secure long-term facility needs, funding activities that increase an organization’s capability to advocate and plan for, fundraise for, lease, acquire, repair, remodel, and/or construct space suitable for their programming. Organizations can apply for up to $25,000.

10. Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Supportive Coordination RFQ
Applications are due Friday, September 16th at 2PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: Best Starts for Kids is seeking to partner with up to two organizations to improve and support the social and emotional outcomes for babies, young children, and their families in the context of culture, language, and community by supporting the people who work with them. There is approximately $1 million to be allocated annually.

11. Healthy Communities & Parks Fund
Applications are due Sunday, September 18th at 11:59PM. The application will be available soon at this link.
Details: Grants are available for programs, capacity building, land acquisition, and capital projects that increase access to recreation, parks, and open space in underserved communities. Applicants can apply for up to $15,000 per project.

12. Landmarks Capital Grant
Applications are due Wednesday, September 21st at 5PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: 4Culture's Landmark Capital grant supports projects focusing on the stabilization or restoration of historic building fabric, repair or replacement of essential building systems, or the restoration of historically significant landscapes. Organizations can apply for up to $30,000.

13. Open 4Culture Funds
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply now at this link.
Details: Through this grant -- which has no deadline -- 4Culture awards amounts up to $1,500 to cultural doers serving underserved populations across the county. Artists and arts groups operating outside of Seattle and those working in Heritage and Preservation anywhere in King County may apply.

14. King County Child Care Financial Assistance Program

Details: King County has allocated $7 million of its federal ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding to support King County families with the cost of their child care. Eligible families may receive financial assistance to pay for their child care at eligible providers.

Youth Communications Campaign (opens in August): Best Starts is seeking to partner with community organizations that will support young people in leading a communications campaign to reach their peers.

Community-Led Data RFP (opens August 8th): Do you want to gather your own data to help Best Starts for Kids understand your community? If so, this RFP is for you! Community-Led Data will fund partners to collect data using your own processes.

Culturally Responsive System Navigation for Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (opens August 8th): This RFQ is for cultural navigators to support families receiving Early Support for Infants and Toddlers services who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color, and/or linguistically diverse families.

Help Me Grow (opens August 17th): Help Me Grow King County (HMGKC) aims to understand how best to connect families and communities to services and adapt the national Help Me Grow model.

Communities of Opportunity Systems and Policy Change RFP (opens August 17th): This RFP will support community-led projects to transform systems and policies to decrease and prevent continued inequity in low-income communities and communities of color in King County.

Communities of Opportunity Place-Based and Cultural Communities Partnerships (opens August 17th): This funding will support coalitions and collaborative partnerships that will implement projects that focus on the intersection of health, housing, economic opportunity, and community connections.

Community-Based Parenting Supports - Lactation and Perinatal Support Services and Birth workers Professional Development (opens August 31st): Best Starts is seeking to partner with community-based organizations to deliver lactation and perinatal supports to pregnant and new parents, and also develop and deliver culturally relevant birthworker and family support training.
