A new lifeline for people in crisis
For someone experiencing a mental health crisis, knowing where to get immediate, capable, compassionate help can literally be lifesaving. That’s why, starting tomorrow, the new national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline will launch. Someone who calls or texts this easy-to-remember number will be connected to a trained mental health professional to get support right away and to access any additional services they might need to stay safe. It’s okay to need help and 988 will make it easier for people to get help.
Time to talk trash
This week, King County’s Solid Waste Division announced the three sites that will move to the next phase of siting a new Northeast Recycling and Transfer Station. The modern, more eco-friendly recycling and garbage facility will replace the 50-year-old Houghton Recycling & Transfer Station and have the capacity to serve the growing population in Northeast King County.
Two sites in Kirkland and one in Woodinville will move forward for the Environmental Impact Study (EIS), which will evaluate the potential impacts on the environment and the community, as well as the possible ways to mitigate those impacts:
- A 12.9 acre-site comprised of six properties in the 15000 block of Woodinville-Redmond Rd. NE in Woodinville
- The current Houghton Transfer Station property at 11724 NE 60th St. in Kirkland
- The Houghton Park-and-Ride property at 7024 116th Ave. NE in Kirkland
This fall, the environmental review will begin with public comment on what should be studied in the EIS. If you are interested in participating in this process, you can visit kingcounty.gov/northeast, call the Solid Waste Division at 206-477-4466, or sign up for email updates here.
Spread the word!
Please forward this email widely and invite others to sign-up to my email updates to receive important and timely information for District 6 constituents.
