Your Update on What's Happening at the King County Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

For a lot of folks, pocketbooks are being squeezed from multiple angles right now as the cost of living continues to rise and high levels of inflation make it more expensive to feed their families. These same financial struggles are hitting our local food banks, who are dealing with increased demand for their services, fewer donations, and rapidly rising food prices.

This week, I introduced legislation asking King County government to look at all possible ways to support these food banks. It would task the County with identifying the highest needs and figuring out what assistance might be available, such as grant opportunities or help with volunteer recruitment.

It is so important that we do what we can to support those in our communities who are in need right now. I will continue to update you as this legislation moves through the Council.

In the meantime, if you are looking for a food bank to support or visit, you can find one near you through the Food Lifeline map of food banks and meal programs

All my best,
