Weekend Kickoff
The new ORCA System launches on this Monday, May 16!
With a new website, smartphone app, real-time value loading on ORCA cards, a better ORCA system is right around the corner. Here’s what you need to know for this transition:
-
All current ORCA cards will continue to work with the new system. ORCA customers do not need to get a new card.
-
In order to transition to the new ORCA system, fares will not be collected between 3 a.m. Saturday, May 14, and 2:59 a.m. Monday, May 16, on most area transit systems.
-
This weekend, May 14 and 15, ORCA card balances will be transferred to the new system, but not full account information. Beginning Monday, May 16 and in the coming weeks, customers who use autoload can begin to set up a new account and new autoloads at myorca.com.

Metro launches new Twitter account for transit alerts!
We’ve launched a brand new Twitter account – @kcmetroalerts –that is dedicated to service information like canceled trips, detours, and stop closures. To get the latest, we invite you to start following @kcmetroalerts. You can sign up to receive this type of information via email or text on our Transit Alerts webpage. (Trip- and route-specific updates will no longer appear on the @KingCountyMetro Twitter account.)
Our main Twitter account now has a more accurate name – @KingCountyMetro – to better reflect our county and the many modes in our transit network. If you previously followed @kcmetrobus, you’re now following @KingCountyMetro automatically.
