Arrest Made in Monday's Fatal
Vashon Island Hit & Run
Today, detectives with the King County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Unit (MARR) arrested the 57-year-old man they believe is responsible for this week's fatal hit & run on Vashon Island.
On Monday, April 4th, around 11:00 PM, King County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 16100 blk. of Vashon Highway SW. It was there they discovered a deceased, 74-year-old man who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Detectives arrived on the morning's first ferry to continue the investigation and begin their efforts to locate the driver responsible.
Tips provided by members of the Vashon community were critical in helping detectives make today's arrest and recover the Ford Explorer detectives believe he was driving on Monday night. We thank everyone for their efforts in helping the Sheriff's Office bring some closure for a family devastated by the loss of their loved one.
The suspect in this case will be booked today into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and felony hit & run. This remains an open and active investigation.
