March 2022: Springing Forward!
Dear Friend,
This past quarter has been a whirlwind! I have spent each week connecting with local leaders, and all these conversations have been instrumental in laying the framework for me to develop new initiatives to help our communities thrive!
Just as we leapt into Spring earlier this week, I’m also transitioning my focus to meet with small businesses and non-profit organizations across our District! If you are a small business owner or are on the board of a local non-profit, or simply want to recommend one or the other, please reach out by email, sarah.perry@kingcounty.gov, or phone at 206-477-1003, and share your information so that I can make sure I meet with the places that are most important to you!

Celebrate Womxn’s History Month!
This month, we not only celebrated the impact that women and girls across the world have in their remarkable accomplishments, but also the every-day contributions women make that help shape our lives. Women across King County and Washington state have paved the way toward equality for all! To honor the impact of all women, King County Council passed a resolution recognizing Women’s History Month.
I am honored to serve on Council with two amazing women, our Chair Councilmember Claudia Balducci, and Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles who is hosting our Womxn’s History Month panel on Resilience, Power and Healing! Please join us on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:45AM via Councilmember Kohl-Welles' Facebook page and KCTV Live Stream here -- I am thrilled to be one of the panelists alongside some outstanding leaders in our community!

Putting Our Communities First!

Your elected leaders have been hard at work on initiatives that will help our region immediately! These investments put our communities at the forefront, and a few of the highlights are below:
- We recently passed an Ordinance to strengthen King County’s building and energy codes, improving air quality and reducing emissions for new housing in unincorporated areas!
- WA State passed a Transportation package that gave $29 billion towards Eastrail, a regional trail that connects our area from Renton to Woodinville and helps fast-track King County Parks’ projects!
- In April, I'm honored and excited to host a meeting with Interim Sheriff Patti Cole-Tindall, EF&R Fire Chief Clark, and police chiefs and fire chiefs throughout our District for a behavioral health conversation. Our goal is to understand the gaps and overlaps in our services as well as opportunities and next steps together for the optimal health of our communities!
