For the first time, the Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) will be hosting a summit for all of VSHSL’s community partners!
The VSHSL Summit will be held on May 10 – 12, 2022. The VSHSL Summit will offer an opportunity for VSHSL community partners to gather together, share experiences, engage in new trainings, and make connections with one another as we continue to grow and serve King County’s communities.

We invite you to a special presentation provided by our partner, 501 Commons, to learn about key findings from the Nonprofit Wage & Benefits Survey. With funding from VSHSL, King County partnered with 501 Commons to conduct the survey to better understand the array of influences – including wages – that contribute to employee recruitment, retention and satisfaction in the nonprofit sector, and begin exploring ways to better promote equitable nonprofit workforce salaries and benefits in King County.
Thank you to all who participated in the Nonprofit Wage & Benefits Survey last year. Your participation has contributed to the creation of the report, providing an invaluable resource to King County’s nonprofit sector.
Join us for a special presentation on Monday, February 28 to learn about timeline for the report’s release, and resources for sharing and accessing the findings from the report.

Congratulations to the following organizations that are awarded a combined total of $936,348, under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to increase domestic violence advocacy services in King County!
Our community partners are funded to increase support for people experiencing domestic violence during a period when isolation, increased stress, and financial strain can create circumstances that additionally compromise their safety and stability. This will be achieved through domestic violence advocacy services using culturally and linguistically competent advocates and staff with the training and resources to increase the self-determination, safety, health, and stability of people experiencing domestic violence.
The Burien Veterans House (BVH) is a six-unit transitional housing program for single, male-identifying veterans. The dormitory-style housing program offers individual bedrooms and a shared kitchen, bathrooms, and living areas. Located in Burien, the house is close to bus lines and a shopping center while providing a quiet refuge for residents. The BVH program is a collaboration between VSHSL and the King County Veterans Program (KCVP), Multi-Service Center (MSC), and King County Housing Authority. Residents receive support from MSC and KCVP staff to help increase their job readiness, self-sufficiency, and to identify and maintain permanent affordable housing.
Watch this video to learn more about the Burien Veterans House. Call KCVP at 206-477-8282 (Northgate) or 206-477-7022 (Tukwila) with questions.

In June 2021, the King County Council approved funding through the general fund for a first-in-the-nation program to help immigrants apply for documented status and citizenship. This program, the King County Immigration Fee Support Program, will provide financial assistance to eligible low-income persons who need financial support to pay fees associated with the immigration process. The Adult Services Division awarded $5,000,000 to three organizations who applied as a collaborative: Scholar Fund, Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network, and Colectiva Legal del Pueblo. The awarded organizations will implement the King County Immigration Fee Support Program, including outreach and application assistance, when the program launches later this year.
