Good news: COVID-19 vaccination rates in King County for all residents ages 5 and up continue to grow. And, while the newly discovered COVID-19 Omicron variant is well worth watching, King County Public Health Officer, Dr. Jeff Duchin recommends we continue to focus on vaccination, boosters, and preventive efforts such as masks, ventilation and testing to protect against COVID-19.

Get Active Stay Active: Kindering
A healthy community means people have access to things that contribute to their well-being, like nature and physical activity. This year, I awarded Get Active Stay Active grants to organizations that serve King County Council District 6. These two-year grants support organizations that provide youth and amateur sports and fitness programs.
As the pandemic shut down opportunities for people to come together in person, Eastside organizations like Kindering knew they would have to adapt quickly to serve their community. Kindering provides high-quality education and therapies to nurture hope, courage, and skills in children with developmental disabilities. To keep their students safe, Kindering created the Kindering Virtual Play Pass (KVPP). Through KVPP, parents and their young children can attend virtual weekly classes that incorporate physical activity, routines, and socialization, such as gymnastics, dance, and movement circles. I am proud to have provided $19,700 so that 100 more kids can access this critical early intervention service and stay active and connected during the pandemic.
Spread the word!
Please forward this email widely and invite others to sign-up to my email updates to receive important and timely information for District 6 constituents.
Sincerely,
Claudia Balducci King County Council District 6
