Last week, our public health department took a major step forward in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting October 25, people attending recreational activities in most indoor spaces will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.
The new policy applies to:
- Outdoor events with 500 or more people (beginning Oct. 25, 2021)
- Indoor recreational activities, such as performances, movie theaters, conferences, gyms (beginning Oct. 25, 2021)
- Indoors at bars and restaurants (outdoor dining, grocery stores, and take-out are exempt, and this policy begins Dec. 6, 2021)
Again, anyone age 12 and older entering one of these spaces will be required to show either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from the last 72 hours. For more details regarding these requirements, how to meet them, and who is exempt, please review the order itself here.
For a list of the most frequently asked questions regarding these new vaccine verification rules, please take a look at the FAQ document I’ve link here.
We all need to do our part to make sure we keep ourselves and our communities safe. Please get vaccinated and encourage your friends and family to do so. We need to mask up at indoor public places. As a reminder, you can always find your nearest vaccination site at our King County Public Health website or Washington State’s COVID Vaccine Finder. Please remember the vaccine is free and no appointments are necessary.

In just a few short years, Link Light Rail will be connecting across the I-90 bridge and expanding reliable mobility options in King County. Though most of the new stops will be across Lake Washington, a new stop is set to open at Judkins Park right here in District 2, so now is the time to get involved as King County Metro is just about to kick off planning for transit options to and around the new station.
The first phase of planning started with a regional needs assessment earlier this year and already there are new opportunities for our community to get involved and make our voices heard.
Join King County Metro and Sound Transit for a discussion on the upcoming restructure of Metro and Sound Transit bus service around the new stations. You will have an opportunity to preview potential route changes, talk with service planners, and provide direct feedback.
- Information session: 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.
You can register for this free virtual event and fill out the initial Metro survey for the changes at www.elc.participate.online. A Spanish translator and closed captioning/CART will be available. Additional language translation will be added for the 9/29 event, please let us know what languages we should add.
For questions, additional language translation, and/or accommodations please contact haveasay@kingcounty.gov or leave a message at 206-263-9768.
