August primary ballots are in the mail!

Ballot image

Believe it or not, it’s already July and ballots for the August Primary Election were mailed to King County’s nearly 1,410,000 registered voters Wednesday! If your ballot doesn't arrive by Monday, July 19, give King County Elections a call at 206.296.8683.

The election includes 56 offices up for election with 214 candidates and 7 ballot measures, which means 131 completely unique ballot combinations for voters in different parts of King County. King County Elections will produce ballots in Chinese, English, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Remember you can mail your ballot in at no cost (just make sure it’s postmarked by Election Day!) or, better yet, use one of the 73 ballot drop boxes open across King County.

Remember to vote by August 3 and learn more about the election at King County Elections >>>

Health through Housing expands to the Eastside

On Wednesday, I joined King County, City of Redmond and community leaders to announce the purchase of the 144-unit Silver Cloud Hotel located in Redmond that will provide permanent supportive housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness. Funding for this critically needed housing came from a 0.1% sales tax that the King County Council authorized last year.

These 144 housing units will change people’s lives. It will move them off the streets and into safety and stability. This year alone, King County has purchased hotels that will provide approximately 433 homes for King County’s chronically homeless residents. I'm thrilled to see King County’s Health through Housing effort take root on the Eastside as part of a regional strategy to address homelessness. Thanks to the City of Redmond for their partnership in making this purchase happen.

What does safety look like to you when taking Metro Transit?

As a part of its commitment to working with the many diverse communities across our county, King County Metro Transit is looking to co-create with community a definition and vision of what it means to be safe on and at Metro facilities through its newly created Safety, Security, and Fare Enforcement (SaFE) Reform Initiative

From July 12 through July 25, Metro is conducting a survey, asking you to help create a safer Metro.

Tell Metro what is needed to make you feel safe on transit, at bus stops, and at other transit facilities by taking the SaFE survey today >>>
