Everyone over 16 is now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination

Yesterday’s latest expansion means all people in Washington age 16 and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination. Now more people than ever can get a vaccine, adding to the nearly 50% of all adults in King County who have received at least one vaccine dose.

If you have questions about eligibility, what options are available for 16- and 17-year-olds, or how to find an appointment, check out Public Health – Seattle & King County’s helpful primer >>>

Mass Vaccination Site Tour

Discussing vaccine storage at the King County Vaccine Partnership – Redmond

This week, I visited the King County Vaccine Partnership - Redmond. This partnership, between Microsoft, Overlake Medical Center & Clinics, and EvergreenHealth, was the first mass vaccination site in East King County and is administering 2,500 vaccinations per day, on average. This week, the site crossed the 65,000 doses administered threshold! Thank you to everyone who is making this public health feat possible!

Apply for a Flood Reduction Grant

Reducing the risk of flooding is central to the King County Flood Control District’s mission and to make that happen, partnerships are critical. In that spirit, new grant opportunities throughout all parts of the County are available to community partners, jurisdictions and tribes in four grant categories:

  • Flood Reduction
  • Urban Streams
  • Coastal Erosion/Coastal Flooding
  • Culvert Replacement/Fish Passage
FCD Grants

Each of the four grant categories will be allotted $3 million out of the total $12 million available for the Flood Reduction Grant Program. While there is no cap on the individual grant award amount, past grants have ranged from $11,000 to $400,000. Matching funds are encouraged but not required.

Homeowner associations, non-profit organizations, schools, special purpose districts, tribes, cities, towns, and agencies in King County are encouraged to apply. The deadline to return the completed application is May 21, 2021.
