Nurse Supervisor - Eastgate COVID-19 Health Center Vaccination Site

To contain COVID-19 and fully re-open the region, Public Health -- Seattle & King County estimates that it will be necessary to vaccinate at least 70 percent of all adults, or approximately 1.26 million people. To help achieve this goal, there is an urgent need to create and expand COVID-19 vaccination capacity across King County.

Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is opening two vaccination sites at the Downtown and Eastgate Public Health Centers to provide referral-based appointments to a targeted population of underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by COVID-19. These sites are expected to be open Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS) in the Community Health Services Division to oversee the Eastgate COVID-19 health center vaccination site. The PHSS is responsible for the supervision of assigned clinical staff and oversees the clinical operation of the vaccination site.

This is a term limited temporary (TLT) or Special Duty position. This position will report to the Vaccination Program Nurse Supervisor in the Community Health Services Division of Public Health. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in hiring, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff. 
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff. 
  • Identify training needs for staff and facilitate staff development. 
  • Participate in staff onboarding, training, and education. 
  • Schedule clinical staff and assign duties for the clinic site on a daily basis. 
  • Proactively manage daily staffing needs to cover breaks, callouts, PTO, other leaves, vacant positions, etc. .
  • Provide professional and technical support to staff and troubleshoot daily clinical operations at vaccination site. 
  • Direct vaccine clinic station leads and resolve any facility issues which arise. 
  • Assure adherence to infection control guidelines and appropriate PPE use. 
  • As needed, staff the vaccine clinic and/or serve as lead in various clinical roles.
  • Conduct quality improvement efforts with team members to ensure a high standard of service provision.
  • Oversee set up and break down of site; manage supply needs
  • Contribute to development of protocols, policies, or patient materials.  
  • Participate in strategic planning as it relates to meeting goals for stable staffing and safe and efficient site operations.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise nursing and clinical staff.  
  • Demonstrated experience administering vaccines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in community settings with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and equity & social justice principles to nursing practice  
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisor, direct reports, co-workers, and healthcare providers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information at all times.  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel).  
  • Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing process 
  • Knowledge of Washington State law relating to nursing care (WAC 18.79) 
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and principles 
  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques and principles 
  • Knowledge of personal safety techniques and principles  
  • Skill in leadership and training  
  • Skill in facilitation and problem-solving 
  • Skill in time management and organization 
  • Skill in initiating appropriate emergency response 


Desired Qualifications:

  • Two years clinical experience (inpatient or outpatient)
  • Knowledge of vaccine preventable diseases, immunizations and infectious disease management and control.
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred
  • Bicultural

 

Licensing/Certification Requirements: 

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing science from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State driver's license or ability to get to 
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers

WORK SCHEDULE: 

This position is fully benefited 1.0 FTE and overtime exempt. We expect the clinics to operate through October 2021.The site will be operational Monday through Friday during business hours. May also work outside of assigned shift and/or location in order to meet operational needs.


WORK LOCATION: This position is based at the Eastgate Public Health Center but may be deployed to other locations to meet operational needs.
