New free COVID-19 testing site

Your Update on What's Happening at the King County Council  

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As the holidays draw near and COVID-19 cases remain at elevated levels, I want to make sure you’re aware of a new COVID-19 test site that opened today in Des Moines. 

As of the time I’m writing this, the new Des Moines testing site, as well as testing sites in Tukwila and Federal Way, have available appointments through next week. Though these locations are in South King County, they are open to all King County residents.

If you have COVID-like symptoms or have had close contact with someone with COVID-19, you can visit www.chifranciscan.org/freetesting to make an appointment.

Online Open House: King County’s Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade Project

King County Wastewater Treatment Division is planning to upgrade a regional sewer line serving Bellevue and Newcastle. As the pipeline nears maximum capacity, it needs to be upgraded to carry more wastewater and meet the growing needs of the local community. The new pipeline alignment will also move the active pipeline away from Coal Creek, offering better protection to this sensitive environmental area.

Funding for the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank

I recently presented a $1,000 Community Service Operating Grant to the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank to support their mobile food bank. As the pandemic continues, the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank is serving more clients than usual. This funding will help them meet increasing needs in our community as more families and individuals struggle financially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
