Affordable Housing Week Goes Digital!

Every year, housing advocates, elected officials, and community members come together for Affordable Housing Week to talk about the regional housing crisis and solutions to address it. This year, we are doing it virtually. Sign up for these two exciting events happening next week:

  • Join me, other regional leaders, and Richard Rothstein, the author of The Color of Law, for a Town Hall Seattle panel discussion on how the legacy of redlining impacts our housing crisis. Get tickets >>>
  • I will also be moderating a Housing Development Consortium panel discussion between Eastside elected officials about their current efforts and what challenges they face as they look to the future. Register now >>>

New Mobility Option Available for Crossroads and Lake Hills Residents and Visitors

Crossroads Connect is a new app-based mobility service that connects people who live, work or go to school in the Crossroads and Lake Hills neighborhoods to King Count Metro bus routes. It will provide better service to residents by offering door-to-door delivery to and from fixed route transit.

At a time when financial constraints make funding new projects challenging for King County Metro, this is an example of how local jurisdictions can secure grant funding and propose innovative ideas to meet their transit needs. The project is made possible by a grant from the state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the City of Bellevue will provide in in-kind services and funding.

ICYMI – Read My Huffington Post Op-Ed on Safe and Secure Elections and Make a Plan to Vote!

Vote-by-mail is a safe, easy method that allows everyone to have a say in selecting our government leaders. Read my Huffington Post op-ed published earlier this week on why vote-by-mail is the safest, most secure way to vote in November's critical election.

With twenty-five days before election day, it’s time to get prepared. First, check your voter registration to make sure you're registered at your current address. Make a plan for how and when you'll vote--if you can, get your ballot in early! You can put your ballot in the mail (no stamp needed) or you can find a ballot drop box near you here. Don't forget to track your ballot to make sure it's counted and that your voice is heard.

COVID-19 Is on the Rise in King County

Recent weeks’ data from Public Health – Seattle & King County paints a concerning picture as King County’s COVID-19 positive test rate has started to rise. Stay informed on the latest County information by checking out these COVID-19 data dashboards >>>

Public Health officials have also asked me to share that while some high-profile outbreaks are occurring, they continue to represent a minority of the total cases that are spreading across King County and now is not the time to let down our guard.

To stay healthy and prevent spreading COVID-19, limit close contact with others outside your home, avoid crowded and poorly-ventilated spaces, wear your mask and keep your distance!
