Last Night’s Every Day March to My Home

The numbers of people, passion and the energy of the Every Day March over such a long period of time is deeply impressive and impactful. Last night Every Day March leaders and participants visited me at my home in Bellevue's Lake Hills.

The march in our neighborhood was peaceful, energetic, and it made an impression on me and my neighbors. I welcomed the evening marchers and we had a long and, I thought, good discussion on the important issues they are raising.

As I said at the end of our discussion, I expect that this will be the beginning of communication, not the end, and that my colleagues and I in local elected office will be judged by our actions on the issues of Black Lives Matter – policing, housing, education, opportunity.

We know there is so much more to do and that we must commit to change. I look forward to working with the community to make meaningful progress toward real opportunity and justice.

You can watch the march and conversation on Facebook via Joey Wieser here.
