“Good Eggs” Community Forum with Councilmember Girmay Zahilay
South King County state, local and community leaders had the opportunity to get to know our newest King County Councilmember, Girmay Zahilay, who joined us on our first virtual community forum on Thursday, July 22nd. Every Councilmember has taken a different path to the King County Council, but Girmay’s journey from Sudan to Seattle is special. King County Aquatic Center Mask Distribution Event
King County’s drive-through mask distribution event at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on July 21st was a huge success. We successfully distributed nearly 13,000 individual masks to King County residents. Governor Inslee Announces New Restrictions and Extends Statewide Eviction Moratorium
Face Covering
Effective July 25th, the state expanded its face covering mandate to include common areas, such as elevators, hallways, lobbies and similar areas.
Bars, Restaurants, Fitness Centers
Effective July 30th, the new restrictions for bars, restaurants and fitness centers will further limit the possibility of interaction between members of different households to limit potential exposure to infected individuals. The restrictions include:
- Indoor dining at restaurants is limited to members of the same household. Members of different households can sit together outside.
- Restaurants must close gaming areas, such as pool tables, darts, video games, until Phase 4. Tables size in Phase 3 will be reduced to 5 and occupancy limited to 50%.
- Restaurant alcohol service must end at 10 p.m.
- Bars will be closed for indoor service. This includes taverns, breweries, wineries and distilleries, regardless of whether they provide food.
- Fitness centers in Phase 2 can only allow 5 people for indoor fitness services at a time. This includes gyms, studios, indoor pools, ice rinks, volleyball courts and tennis facilities. Occupancy in Phase 3 will be reduced to 25%, with group classes limited to no more than 10, not including the instructor.
Weddings and Funerals
Effective August 6th, wedding and funeral ceremonies are limited to 20% indoor occupancy or 30 people, whichever is less. Wedding and funeral receptions are prohibited. Weddings and funerals will be given a two-week grace period for those already planned.

Statewide Eviction Moratorium
Originally expiring on Aug. 1st, the governor extends the statewide eviction moratorium until October 15. His staff will work with a group tenants and landlords and will discuss possible changes to the moratorium. More specific details will be released soon.
Kinship Care Supports Request for Proposal
The King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to release a Request for Proposal for Kinship Care Supports with funding from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services (VSHSL) and guidance from the VSHSL Implementation Plan.
This request seeks an entity or entities to provide support to senior kinship caregivers who are 55 and older living in King County, especially those in the early stages of the kinship care connections. Priority will be given, but is not exclusive, to informal kinship caregivers to help them be successful in their roles and increase their ability to maintain their health and well-being. 4Culture: Landmarks Capital Funding Now Open
The Landmarks Capital Funding Program is now accepting applications to support urgent repairs, including emergencies and time-sensitive projects. It will prioritize projects that prevent further damage or disrepair to historic properties, or address life safety issues. The deadline to submit your application is on September 16th at 5:00PM.

King County Case Update
Today, Seattle – King County Public Health reported 213 new cases, bringing the total in King County to 14,047. In addition, Public Health reported 2 new deaths, bringing the total in the county to 638.
