We are grateful for how our partners and community members have come together to support their neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help alleviate increased food insecurity due to impacts from COVID-19, we partnered with FareStart and 19 VSHSL partners to distribute 25,695 meals to vulnerable residents in our communities.

A new funding opportunity to enhance the behavioral health and wellness of U.S. veterans, servicemembers, and their families is available. Military service can often cause or exacerbate behavioral health and wellness concerns among servicemembers and veterans. Family members of veterans and servicemembers often struggle alongside their loved one.
The VSHSL Veteran and Military Family Counseling strategy seeks to fund an organization(s) to coordinate and oversee the provision of behavioral health care (counseling) services to veterans who experience PTSD and other readjustment concerns resulting from their military service. Applicants should also provide support for military servicemembers and their families before, during and after deployments and other significant events related to military service.

We know many of our partners have creatively adjusted their programs and supports to stay safe while providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Small VSHSL-funded partners may be eligible for technical assistance and capacity building (TA/CB) funds. TA/CB funds can help provide extra support for partners to enhance or pivot their ability to deliver services.
TA/CB funds could be used to support an organization’s internal processes such as human resources, legal capacity, accounting or fiscal operations, leadership development, continuity planning and evaluation capacity.
