Suspension of many King County in-person services to continue through at least April 30
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, King County will extend the suspension of many in-person and walk-in services through at least April 30. This move is being made in accordance with Governor Jay Inslee's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order issued on March 23.
King County employees continue to deliver essential services to the extent possible during this public health emergency, and customer service may be available by phone, email, and/or regular mail depending on the agency. Instead of visiting in person, residents are urged to use the many online services available at kingcounty.gov/services.
Some of the in-person county services affected by the continued suspension are:
- Vehicle and vessel licensing at the King County Administration Building, 500 Fourth Ave., Seattle
Vehicle license subagents, which are independent small businesses located throughout the county, may or may not be open for walk-in customers at their discretion and following Public Health guidelines
- Taxi/TNC/For-Hire licensing at the King County Administration Building
- Treasury operations (including property tax payments) at the King County Administration Building
- Recorder's Office (including marriage licensing, real estate transactions, and other document recording) at the King County Administration Building
- Vital Statistics (birth and death certificates) at 908 Jefferson, Seattle
- Archives (reference and records requests) at 1215 E. Fir, Seattle
- King County Metro Transit Pass Sales and Lost/Found offices at King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle
- Elections at 919 SW Grady Way in Renton and the King County Administration Building
- Assessor's Office at the King County Administration Building
- Community Service Centers in Issaquah, Kent, Renton, and Shoreline
- Board of Appeals at the King County Administration Building
- Pet adoptions at the King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent
- Procurement at the Chinook Building, 401 Fifth Ave., Seattle
- In-person job applications at the King County Administration Building
- In-person and paper-based permit application services at the Department of Local Services Permitting Division in Snoqualmie
- Capacity charge customer service account inquiries for the Wastewater Treatment Division at King Street Center
- In-person and paper-based permit application and plan review services at Environmental Health Services in the Chinook Building and Eastgate Public Health Center, 14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue
- No fingerprinting services or new applications for Concealed Pistol Licenses at the King County Sheriff's Office in the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Ave., Seattle
