On to Redmond!

DRLE Map

Groundbreaking occurred this week to extend light rail to Downtown Redmond by 2024

Opening just one year after the completion of East Link in 2023, the new 3.4 mile light rail connection to Southeast and Downtown Redmond will provide fast, frequent and reliable rail connections to destinations like Sea-Tac Airport, the University of Washington, Lynnwood, Seattle and Bellevue.

The Downtown Redmond connection will provide congestion-free trips to more jobs and schools across the region. As a part of the project, a new trail connection will be built to link together the East Lake Sammamish Trail and Eastrail’s Redmond Central Connector. Importantly, a new light rail stop at Southeast Redmond will provide both local and regional visitors a new car-free way to visit Marymoor Park.

Additionally, this project will provide new opportunities for housing near frequent and reliable transit. As a member of the Affordable Housing Committee I’m hopeful we will also extend opportunity to all people in our community by building even more affordable housing along this regional transit corridor.

I can’t wait to ride light rail to Redmond in 2024.

Until next time,
