February News Update and Upcoming Events

Dave Upthegrove

New Chair for a New Committee

This month, I chaired my first meeting of the Mobility and Environment Committee. Each year, the Council rotates its committee membership, and my colleagues have chosen me to Chair this new committee.

This will be a new challenge but I am looking forward to working on policies that improve bus service in South King County and protect the local environment.

WaterWorks

WaterWorks Grant Program

The WaterWorks grant program offers funding for community-driven projects that help protect water quality, control pollution, and build healthy communities. Every year nonprofits, schools, cities, tribes, and educational institutions have the opportunity to receive county funding for their important work.

In the last funding cycle, the Hillside Paradise Plots Community Garden received funding to create a water management system that supports their garden.

The WaterWorks grant program is now accepting letters of intent through March 6, 2019. You can learn more about the application process on their website.

There will also be a public workshop for potential applicants at King Street Center in Seattle on Tuesday, February 12th from 12-1pm.

Sound Transit

Sound Transit Regional Report

Sound Transit has released their 2019 Regional Report. This report gives an update on the exciting work being done across the region to expand the Sound Transit system. The South King County Regional Report will let you explore projects happening in your backyard.
