Community Planning Session: Veteran Pathfinders and Navigators
January 24, 2019, 12:30 – 2:30 pm
KCVP Tukwila Office, 645 Andover Park W, Tukwila, WA 98188
The Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) and King County Veterans Program (KCVP) are hosting a community planning session at the KCVP Tukwila Office to receive feedback and share plans for an upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) for three key strategies within the VSHSL Implementation Plan:
Veteran Navigators to provide housing navigation to veterans experiencing homelessness, and connect them to stabilization services while they are in queue for housing.
Veteran Pathfinders to seek out and specialize in serving vulnerable veteran populations – specifically women and transgender veterans, Native American veterans, veterans of color, veteran families, and veterans experiencing homelessness - and connect them to community-based services.
Veteran Pathfinder Coordination to train and coordinate VSHSL-funded pathfinders to establish consistent practices in assessing, referring, and connecting veterans to community-based services and support pathfinding services throughout King County.
At this community planning session we will discuss:
What are community informed and successful practices in navigation and pathfinding?
What does it take to provide these services well for different communities?
Should the RFP address transportation needs? If so, how?
How can this RFP and program be structured to balance flexibility for providers to address needs, while accounting for the need to track services delivered and outcomes achieved along the following three broad categories?
- How much?
- How well?
- How are veterans better off?
How can we ensure that our RFP allows for service models that are racially, ethnically, culturally and regionally inclusive?
