Honoring the life and service of First Lieutenant Michael Adams
|
|
Each year on Veterans Day, as a nation we recognize and remember the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers on and off the battlefield.
This weekend is steeped in significance for many reasons. Today marks the 100-year anniversary of the end of WWI. Last year, I was honored to take part in a ceremony commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the the U.S. entering WWI, where my colleagues and I recognized county and city employees who served in the war.
This year, I was honored to organize a special ceremony in the unincorporated community of Fairwood. On Friday, November 9, the community commemorated the life of fallen Iraq War hero First Lieutenant Michael Adams through the renaming of the road he grew up on to “1LT Michael Adams Place.” First Lieutenant Michael Adams was an American hero that was loved by everyone around him.
Today we celebrate our nation's veterans by honoring all the brave men and woman who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Please take a moment today to remember all who have served and honor those who continue to serve.
