 We urge everyone in King County to prepare now for high water later. Assemble a basic emergency preparedness kit for your home and car. Do not walk or drive through flooded roads. Have a plan for what you would do with your pets or livestock in the event of high water or evacuation. Find out the nearest location for free sandbags during a flood. And sign up for KC Flood Alerts, a free, automated system that gives subscribers customized alerts about potential flooding in any or all of King County’s six major river systems.  Metro and Sound Transit aim to improve mobility in north Eastside
King County’s north Eastside is growing and changing. In the Bothell, Kenmore, Kirkland, Redmond, and Woodinville areas, Metro and Sound Transit see an opportunity to improve transit service and adapt it to new conditions so it stays convenient and reliable. They’re also looking to strengthen connections to important destinations.
If you ride Metro routes 234, 235, 236, 238, 243, 244, 248, 255, 277, or 930 and/or Sound Transit Express routes 540, 541, or 545, check out the project website, come to a public meeting or visit the online open house, and take the survey (deadline Nov. 13) to share your thoughts about proposed changes.

Road construction updates
Tolt Hill Bridge
As of Oct. 23, the load restriction on Tolt Hill Bridge has been lifted. However, final painting of the steel repair areas is ongoing and weather dependent. The one lane configuration with temporary signals will continue until all painting is finished—probably by mid-November. NE Woodinville Duvall Road

Association thanks county staffers
For their time and the information they’ve provided at our business meetings and as speakers at our recent October Community Event, the Green Valley/Lake Holm Association thanks King County’s Harold Taniguchi, DOT Director and Local Services Transition Lead; Josh Kahan, DNRP/WLRD Project Program Manager; John Taylor, DNRP/WLRD Assistant Director and Director-designee of the Department of Local Services; and Troy Olmsted, commander of Sheriff’s Precinct 3. We also acknowledge Chief Greg Smith of our local Mountain View Fire and Rescue, who has given an update of his department’s service at our annual events for several years in a row.
Mr. Kahan, a Green River Basin Steward, also led members on a tour of Middle-Green River levee and associated natural area sites to help us better understand the county’s current and possible future projects and acquisitions for open space conservation and habitat restoration. We appreciate the arrangements he made on our behalf as well as the knowledge he shared about the sites and their value to the county. Mr. Taylor met with us repeatedly to improve King County Comprehensive Plan Update policy protecting regional, rural landowner water sources and understanding of critical stormwater needs. Mr. Taniguchi served us similarly in regard to transportation issues and the Local Services Initiative.
The association thanks all of them for these efforts, and for their enthusiasm.
