Transit Alert – Try King County Metro’s new ride-hailing app for on-demand service between Eastgate P&R and nearby neighborhoods

Starting Tuesday, October 23, a new ride-hailing app for on-demand service will be available for transit riders who would normally travel short distances for transit connections to or from Eastgate park and ride lot.

The weekday peak hour on-demand first and last mile service is part of a pilot project called Ride2.

Even with about 1,600 parking spaces available, the Eastgate P&R is usually at or near capacity on weekday mornings. Embracing the mobile technology of the Ride2 app, King County Metro plans to make it easier than ever to get to work and home again each day without having to drive or park.

Using Android or iOS smartphone apps, transit riders within about 2.5 miles of the Eastgate P&R (see the service area) can request to be picked up for a ride to or from the park and ride. Riders can also schedule rides in advance by calling 866-750-5057.

Since rides may be shared, and to make the service more efficient, riders will be assigned a pick-up location no more than a short walk - 5 minutes or less - away from their starting point. Accessible service is also available. Those riders will be picked up directly from their starting location.

Ride2 Eastgate P&R service will be free for the first couple of months.  After that, regular transit fares will apply. Using an ORCA card, you will only pay one fare and transfer to your bus – or back to Ride2 – at no additional cost.

Ride2 service will be available during peak commuting hours, Monday through Friday, from 6:00-10:00 AM and from 4:00-8:00 PM.  It does not operate on weekends or holidays.

The Eastgate P&R is served by transit service to and from downtown Seattle, the University District, downtown Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland and Redmond.

Metro welcomes you to give Ride2 Eastgate P&R a ride.
