Trail from Renton to Bellevue Now Open for Business!

The new section of the Eastside Rail Corridor is now open to the public

Ten months ago I joined Renton Mayor Denis Law and City Councilmembers from Newcastle and Bellevue in pulling out the spikes of the railroad tracks to begin construction on a new phase of the Eastside Rail Corridor.

This rail corridor used to move coal and freight, then fuselages to the Boeing plant in Renton. It's part of the rich history of King County and I'm excited for this new chapter. 

Local residents can take advantage of the interim trail, which will provide an important connection for the communities along the eastern shore of Lake Washington, from Bellevue to Newcastle to Renton between homes, businesses and jobs. 

I look forward to seeing how this trail continues to evolve and serve King County residents. 

Tribute to Gov. John Spellman, King County's First Executive

On Monday I joined my King County Council colleagues, County Executive Dow Constantine, and members of the Spellman family at a ceremony formally renaming the King County Administration Building and the 4th Ave. block in honor of the former Gov. and first King County Executive.

Gov. Spellman worked to transform King County, Washington - Government into a strong, open government by working with everyone regardless of political background, and I am glad this dedication preserves a piece of his legacy.
