Dear Friends,
I wanted to invite you to
attend the upcoming 2018 NACOLE Seattle/King County Regional Conference taking
place Thursday, June 28, in Seattle City Hall’s Bertha Knight Landes Room. Here is a link for
more information, including the event schedule and registration. The event will
cover topics of importance in our region and to oversight in general including:
- Policing and oversight in sanctuary cities
- Inquests
- Reviewing use of force
- Conducting outreach for oversight
In addition to these important topics featuring
expert panelists from around the country, we will hear a keynote presentation
from the amazing Anita Khandelwal from the King County Department of Public
Defense talking about the role of oversight in criminal justice reform.
Please check out the agenda and
register. It’s going to be a great opportunity to learn more and network with
others interested in police practices.
If any of the organizations you’re
involved with would like to co-sponsor the program, please let me know. The
benefits of co-sponsorship include being listed on all promotional materials,
being acknowledged at the event, and having table space to distribute materials
or talk to people about your work. What we ask in return is that your
organization encourage attendance with your community network and send
attendees from your organization to attend.
The following is a list of current event co-sponsors whose
help will make this regional conference a success:
- ACLU of Washington
- King County
Office of Law Enforcement Oversight
- King County
Office of the Ombuds
- Seattle Councilmember M. Lorena Gonzalez

the Inspector General
- Seattle Office of
