Join our team! The Procurement & Payables Section is looking for an Intern to assist the Accounts Payable Team. This position will work in the Procurement and Accounts Payable Section, with an opportunity to gain valuable Finance experience and knowledge about Accounts Payable (AP) by working with the AP Team to develop and update Standard Work procedures and also assist with analyzing unclaimed property items and assist with archiving records.
This position is estimated to be 20 to 40 hours a week and will last until August 31, 2018.
Wage Information
Intern II: $16.59-$21.03
Students currently enrolled in undergraduate school.
Intern III: $18.68-$23.68
Students currently enrolled in graduate school.

Other Position Information: This position is overtime-eligible. Our employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, and will allow for flexibility of hours and work schedule between Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Potential for student learning in this internship:
- The intern will exercise skills in verbal and written communication, collaboration, procedure development and implementation, and will become familiar with the governmental and King County's Accounts Payable processing.
- The intern will improve communication and writing skills.
- The intern will improve understanding of standards and processes.
- The intern will gain knowledge in working on Unclaimed Property.
Example of intern responsibilities, under direct supervision:
- Review standard work procedures and observe AP Staff to ensure accuracy of information gathered as it relates to procedures that exist in our databases.
- Assist with developing standardized tools and processes, including data and contract information.
- Identify any standard work procedures that need updating or documenting.
- Assist with internal/external communications about reports and databases.
- Help plan, organize, and attend meetings and training events as needed.
- Support internal updating data efforts as needed.
- Assist with Unclaimed Property project as needed.
- Assist with Records archiving as needed.
Internship requirements and qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of the principles of Accounts Payable processes.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of software products used in an office environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated, flexible and able to work independently.
- Enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university.
