SUMMARY: The PPM II Agriculture Land Use Coordinator position is located in the Agriculture, Forestry and Incentives Unit within the Water and Land Resources Division ("WLR") in the Department of Natural Resources and Parks ("DNRP") and will serve as part of a team of agriculture specialists responsible for development and implementation of high-leverage strategies that will improve opportunities for land access and enhance King County agricultural economic viability. Current high-priority program areas include increasing amount of land in commercial agricultural production, monitoring compliance with agricultural conservation easements, enhancing management potential of existing farmland, and managing FarmKingCounty.org and other DNRP agricultural websites. This position directly contributes to King County's goal of increasing land in commercial agricultural production by at least 400 acres per year and supporting 25 new farmers each year, as outlined in the County's Local Food Initiative.
The Farmland Viability Coordinator will report directly to the Agriculture, Forestry and Incentives ("AFI") Program Manager and will initially have no direct reports but may oversee work of contractors.
