Transit Purchasing Specialist

 The Transit Purchasing Specialist is responsible for procuring a variety of electrical and building maintenance parts, equipment, tools and supplies necessary in support of the operation and maintenance of Transit Facilities.  The Transit Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in placing orders by creating requisitions and processing purchase orders, receiving inventory and other items, auditing and reconciling invoices. This position is also responsible for assisting with the procurement process and may be requested to assist in preparation of solicitation documents, participation in contract negotiations, awards and administration in order to deliver sustainable cost savings.

Vacancy Information
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) current career service vacancy. In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future similar Career Service, Term Limited Temporary (TLT) and Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in this classification within the Transit Division. The eligibility list would be valid for twelve months upon creation and may be extended at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Work Schedule
This position normally works a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday and is overtime eligible. Shifts vary based on a seniority pick-process. This position is subject to 24-hour call-out response to emergencies.

May be assigned to any of the following locations based on business need:
  • Power Distribution – 2255 4th Ave S., Seattle, WA
  • South Facilities Shop - 11911 East Marginal Way South, Building C, Tukwila, WA
  • North Facilities Shop - 12525 Stone Ave N., Seattle, WA
  • Satellites Stores throughout King County (as needed)
