Transit Alert – Metro service may be affected by predicted midday Friday snow; plan ahead, allow plenty of time and be safe
King County, Washington sent this bulletin at 02/22/2018 08:45 PM PSTWhile transit is currently operating normally throughout Metro’s service area, Metro
Transit and other agencies are monitoring weather forecasts and conditions in the event
that a predicted midday Friday snowfall could cause traffic or travel challenges in
Metro’s service area.
Metro encourages all riders to be prepared in case of a weather event.
Snow & ice
If there are significant or widespread transit reroutes or other service impacts due to
weather or road conditions, information will be posted on the ‘Snow, ice & flood alerts’
page on Metro’s website, and Transit Alerts will be sent to subscribers of affected
service.
If there are just a few minor or scattered impacts, Metro will send Transit Alerts to
subscribers of affected routes.
Transit riders are encouraged to sign up for Transit Alerts for the routes they ride,
however, it is also easy to see recent alerts by visiting Metro’s RSS page and selecting
the desired route.
Transit service in snowy or icy conditions
Preparation
Transit service in King County could be affected by snow or ice at any time during the
winter. It is not possible to determine what areas or service – if any – could be affected,
as forecasts, predictions and actual conditions may change.
If Metro service is significantly affected by snow or other weather-related
events, Metro’s website will be updated and Transit Alerts will be sent to affected
subscribers.
Signing up for Transit Alerts is one of the best ways to be prepared and to get
information. All Transit Alerts also post on Metro’s RSS feed.
Metro riders can also prepare ahead by visiting Metro’s website or MetroWinter.com to
familiarize themselves with information about how Metro operates in the snow, as well
as the snow routing for the routes they ride. Snow routes are shown in timetables.

Everyone's preparedness and patience during snow or other adverse conditions is
appreciated.
If transit service is affected, it is not possible to know when a bus will arrive at a specific
location, or to provide service updates at the individual trip or stop level. Use regularly
published timetables as a guide, check Metro’s online snow page for route updates, be
aware of conditions in your area and be prepared for delays.
Transit customers are advised to wait for buses at posted bus stops on flat portions of
cleared arterials or at major transfer points, such as park-and-ride lots and transit
centers where there may be multiple service options.
It is a good idea to become familiar with multiple transit options for getting to or near
your destination.
Visit Metro's Snow & Ice page and your route's online timetable and snow route map for
additional information.
Visit Metro Online for all transit information.
Thank you for your patience and for using Metro's services.
Travel safely.
